The exhibition â NatureTecture â by the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia on the development of landscape architecture in Europe was on display in Istanbul until mid-December 2010.
On November 26, 2010, AKNW Vice President Dr. Christian Schramm and the President of the Istanbul Chamber of Architects, Prof. Deniz lncedayi, opened the exhibition in the European Capital of Culture 2010 in front of around 200 Turkish architects, landscape architects, interior designers and urban planners.

NatureTecture
âQuality landscape will become increasingly important in social, environmental and ultimately also economic processes – in North Rhine-Westphalia, in Europe and in other parts of the world,â emphasized Dr. Christian Schramm, Vice President of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia, in his welcoming address. The President of the Istanbul Chamber of Architects, Prof. Deniz Incedayi, also emphasized the growing importance of the sustainable use of natural resources, for which architects and landscape architects bear responsibility. âThe NatureTecture exhibition addresses the central challenges facing designers of nature and landscape throughout Europe,â said Prof. Incedayi, explaining the Istanbul Chamber of Architects’ motivation for presenting the touring exhibition. She expressly welcomed the professional exchange between German and Turkish architects.
The international traveling exhibition presents landscape architecture as a dynamic field of work that is becoming increasingly relevant in times of climate change and growing environmental awareness. A total of 14 current areas of landscape architecture are analyzed under the thematic blocks âTransformationâ, âIdentityâ, âEcologyâ and âInteractionâ and the lines of development for the coming years are outlined. In doing so, it draws on landscape architectural expertise from North Rhine-Westphalia and examples of landscape architecture from NRW. âWhen designing the exhibition, we focused on those fields of work that will become increasingly important internationally for the design of our living environments,â explained Prof. Elizabeth Sikiaridi, the curator of NatureTecture.
The exhibition also raises questions, and she is pleased that these can now be discussed in an international context.
NatureTecture was conceived as an international traveling exhibition. Following its presentation at the Haus der Architekten in DĂŒsseldorf, the exhibition was shown in Brussels in the fall of 2010 and at several architecture fairs in South Korea. The UIA International Congress of Architects in Tokyo (September 25 – 29, 2011) is planned as a further stop next year.
